A saint living in a certain country was well-known for his piety and righteousness. He had great respect for his mother and father. He obeyed their orders and was ever ready to serve them.
Once, when he was just a child, his mother asked for a glass of water. She felt thirsty. While she was in her bed, and said : “Dear me ! I am feeling thirsty. Just go and bring me a glass of water”. The obedient child picked up a glass and rushed out to get a water. When he turn u with a glass of water in his little hand. He found the mother fast asleep. Now he was in a fix what to do. If we woke her up, he would not dare, as it disturbed her sleep, and meant discomfort. So he stood by the side of his mother much of the right, lest she got up and asked for water.
At last, the mother got up and found her obedient son waiting by her side with a glass of water in his hands. “Have you been standing with this glass of water in wait since then ?” the mother asked in anxiety. “yes, mother, I am waiting for you to wake up so that I may give water to you”, the little obedient son replied with due respect. The mother was overjoyed on this submission and respect shown by her dear son. She prayed for him with all her love and affection and the small shild grew up to be a great saint of his time.
